One of the biggest attractions of AQWA is the DANGER zone exhibit. Prepare to come face to face with a deadly lineup of ferocious marine creatures that can bite, punch, sting to both immobilize and kill! This thrilling exhibition offers a breathtaking look at some of Western Australia's most dangerous marine life.
A relatively new addition to AQWA, the Glowing Ocean exhibit is a wonderful celebration of color and light. Equipped with stunning and high-tech UV lighting that creates a patchwork quilt showcasing glowing and shimmering corals, the Glowing Ocean exhibit is a must-visit when in AQWA. The lighting also helps highlight the generally invisible fluorescent details of anemones and reef fish.
Ever wondered what experiencing Antarctica would feel like? Head over to the Great Southern Coast and descend into the chilly waters of the southern zone where ice-cold waves and winds from Antarctica leave a lasting impression on the stunning but isolated shores. The prominent granite boulders here are home to some of the rarest sea creatures including pineapple fish and seadragons!
Hop aboard a moving conveyor belt and travel through Australia's biggest underwater tunnel and single aquarium. Waiting for you on the other side of the glass tunnel are majestic sea creatures including giant sharks, shimmering temperate fishes, stingrays, and turtles. Named after the jagged red rock cliffs and emerging limestone reefs that led to the demise of many unprepared ships, the Shipwreck Coast stretches from Lancelin to Kalbarri.
Your trip to AQWA is incomplete without a stop at the glorious Perth Coast. Home to charismatic creatures like the blue devil, gloomy octopus, Australian cuttlefish, gobbleguts fish, and western rock lobster, the Perth Coast makes for a remarkable viewing experience. The coast boasts stunning white sand beaches that join the flat sea floods, limestone reefs, little islands, and vibrant seagrass beds.
The Northern Coast of Australia is as ancient as the planet and remains relatively untouched. Extending from the tropical coral wonderland in Ningaloo to the mangrove flats of Kununurra, the north coast makes for a memorable experience. The north is home to Nemo fishes, pristine soft corals, and baby crocodiles, all offering a singularly unique experience.
Arguably the biggest attraction in AQWA, the Coral Reef Exhibit holds the honor of being the world's largest living coral exhibit. This thriving underwater city showcases the many reef buildings found in Rottnest Island and Perth along with detailed limestone structures. Visit this exhibition to witness a natural kaleidoscope of color and life.
